Can't generate query files

Start with client/src/pages/launches.tsx and package.json, then run npm run codegen to reproduce the Apollo client:codegen parser error. Compare the file syntax and the listed TypeScript, Apollo, and Node versions with the tutorial's expected setup. Done means query files generate successfully without the Unexpected < syntax error.

Following the tutorial but stuck at generating query files.
When I run npm run codegen which is translated to apollo client:codegen --target typescript --watch
I get the following error:

Tried with node v14.4.0 and v13.12.0, same error. Any suggestions what am I doing wrong? Thank you.
