I would like to consider the trailers in the commit message of the HEAD commit in my versionCreator lambda.

To implement this feature, first locate the ScmPosition class in the repository (likely in src/main/groovy). Understand how commit messages are currently handled and where versionCreator lambdas are processed. Then add a field to ScmPosition to store the commit message of the HEAD commit. Ensure that the commit message can be accessed in the lambda. Consider also how to extract trailers from the commit message as requested.
