Description

I'd like to be able to notify the replyTo in the case of failure a quickly as possible from Effect.persist. So .recover would be nice. Maybe something like the following:

Effect.persist(ArtifactRead())
  .thenRun(_ => replyTo ! Okay())
  .recover { 
     case ex: Exception => 
         replyTo ! Failure(ex.getMessage)
  }

Research direction
Study the existing Effect API in akka persistence typed, particularly Effect.persist and its return type. Look at how thenRun and other combinators are implemented. Then design a recover method that handles failure cases and allows notifying replyTo. Consider the semantics of recovery after persist failures and ensure compatibility with existing callback ordering.
