Research direction
Reproduce the installation of Xcode 27.0 Beta 4 on Golden Gate Beta 4 using Xcodes 4.0.5, then inspect how the app detects and displays installed Xcode versions after installation completes. Compare the state before and after the second install attempt; done means the newly installed version remains listed as installed without requiring another install.
