Be smart about when something is not editable

if not logged in then log in button

if logged in and still uneditable:

  • suppress the new message box, camera icon, etc
  • suppress in action bar those things which would involve editing the chat file.
  • Don't make new file for today.
  • no "Unable to link old message block to new one" message
