Description

This is mostly a TODO item I would like to do someday when I have time. Anyone is most welcome to do this if you have time and want to this; always open to a PR for this :D

Mostly wanting to move to cmake as it feels cleaner. But no real driving force to do this ultimately.

If you know of a reason not to do this; I'm all ears

Main things I'm thinking of gaining with the cmake move are using ccmake and easier integration of extra linting / checking tools.

Study the current Makefile structure, identify all compiler flags and dependencies, and create a CMakeLists.txt that replicates the build process. Use ccmake for configuration and integrate additional linting tools as desired.
