@renkun-ken @randy3k are you able to share any (tentative) release plans or roadmap for v3.0.0?
As a fellow OSS maintainer, I know that these "When are you releasing X?" questions are annoying. (Apologies!) But I think it would be really helpful for the community to get a sense of expected timelines and current blockers. If nothing else, it would help concentrate PR efforts.
More narrowly/selfishly, I'm helping to refactor some my work org's internal data science containers/tooling, and v3.0.0 of the vscode-R extension will make R integration a lot easier. (I know that I can always download the rc target from GitHub, but my engineering team have strong preferences/norms to install a fixed version from the VSC extensions channels.)
