Research direction

Search the documentation for the hard-coded references 3.8.4, 3.8.4.1, and 3.8.4.1-preview.1. Update the references to use the versions specified in the issue, including 3.8.5-develop.15 for the current preview, then verify that outdated version strings no longer remain.
