Description

Type: Bug

  1. Open 2 markdown files
  2. Open markdown preview
  3. Switch focus between markdown files to see the preview update
  4. Restart the extension host (this happens frequently now that we support that when extensions update instead of a full window reload)
  5. Try switching focus between markdown files again :bug: => preview stops updating

Research direction
Investigate the markdown preview extension's handling of extension host restart. Look at the activation and deactivation lifecycle in extensions/markdown language features/src/preview.ts. Check if the preview disposes of its event listeners properly on deactivation and re registers them on activation. The issue may be in the preview document manager or the webview content provider. Also review recent changes to the extension host restart logic.
