Related (but not duplicate): #110221

In the command palette (the one accessible via F1 if I got the name wrong), there is a "Git: Checkout to…" option. As git switch is a newer command in git, most people don't use it yet. However, some do! Having "Git: Switch to…" would be an improvement for those of us that use git switch on a regular basis.

Research direction
Start by looking at the Git extension commands registration file (e.g., src/vs/workbench/contrib/git/browser/commands.ts or similar). The alias can be added by duplicating the existing 'Git: Checkout to…' command entry with a new ID and label. Ensure the new command uses the existing 'checkout' action to avoid duplicate logic. Also check for localization strings in the same area. The related issue #110221 may have additional context.
