Research direction

Start by locating the share-link playback entry point and the code that initializes captions for videos with transcripts. Verify that a captions-off parameter leaves the CC control available, while links without it retain their current behavior, and test both link variants.

Description

Captions start on when a shared video has a transcript. For demos with text already on screen, they can obscure the content. Turning off “Enable captions” removes the option for viewers entirely.

Could share links support a parameter such as ?captions=off that starts playback without captions while keeping the CC control available? The plain link could keep its current behaviour.
